Fun in the Sun in July 2009

In this post, I'm sharing some of my photography

and some activities I've been involved with this summer.

July 18 I drove up to The Dalles to meet up with other

Patriot Guard Riders to visit the residents of the

Oregon Veterans' Home. We were encouraged to donate some

items for the residents and vist with some of them.

The drive was beautiful along the Columbia River Gorge,

both ways. These are photos taken at the Veterans' Home.

Mt. Hood and the valley below.

PGR display inside the home.

A flag quilt.

Marge, a resident, whose husband was in the Army,

and Becky. She and her husband had a grocery store

in my growing up years.

Fred, who served in the Army, is an uncle of a friend of mine

and went to school with my dad. Small world.

I didn't know either of these people were there.

The Dalles Bridge.

Two of 3 WWII era planes that did a fly over for us.

They were from the plane and car museum in Hood River.

We've been there and it's awesome!!!

Our MC for the afternoon, a PGR friend.

Old Glory flying in the breeze.

Long may she wave o'er the land of free and the home of the brave.

I stopped at Multnomah Falls on the way home.

I wanted to make sure it was still running. It was & there were

alot of people there to see it. An awesome sight!!

Flowers in the summer sun where my mom lives.

My daughter and I stopped to visit her on the way home

from a memorial for a Marine. It was a warm day.

My mom and flowers that she enjoys in the patio out back.

Worn out Megan and her grandma Francis.

Becky and her mom.

July 25 we were at the Oregon Zoo for a company picnic,

with my husband and our son, who both work with the same company.

Tickets for the zoo were included in the picnic. It was 98 degrees that day.

Some of the animals weren't too happy about that.

Megan and a wooden black bear.

A turtle who liked to have his photo taken.

Hot, panting black bear making his way to his cool den.

Becky and Phil trying out tractor seats by farm display.

John Deere in the background.

Flowers along the Portland Zoo railroad.

Compared to bears, she's short, except for the sunbear.

A turtle enjoying the sun.

Elephants.

We met up with Justin, Erin and granddaughter Melody for the picnic.
Grandpa Phil holds Melody. I love this hat on her.
She wasn't feeling good that day,
but she was a trooper.

Megan found a cool Coke machine.

The statue we're by is Dr. Doolittle talking to the animals.

I'm still getting used to loading photos onto this blog site.

In the process, I lost one photo and don't know how to retrieve it so 3 photos weren't shown.

Then I forgot to add a couple others, from zoo, but I guess you all know what a zebra looks like. The one with mom and granddaughter will be shared later. It's just cute.

Oh, look who's hiding...brother and sis.

Please bear with me in this process. :0)

Thanks for visiting and come back soon.

Enjoy what's left of the summer.

God Bless you!

^^
